How to make the perfect French Toast

A quick, easy, and tasty brunch is a must for many people, but you might want to make your own, if you’re a vegetarian.

Vegan chef and cookbook author Kristin Bogle recommends making a vegan French toast, as well as a vegetarian version, which includes eggs, fruit, and some cheese.

Bogle’s recipe calls for all ingredients except the bread to be vegan, including the butter.

It’s also a bit of a compromise for vegetarians: the vegan version of the French toast has a little bit more egg and cheese than the vegetarian version.

“If you want to get creative, try different types of bread, and use different toppings,” Bogle says.

Vegetarian French toast Bogle makes the French Toast from scratch, with only the butter, milk, and eggs.

The milk and eggs add a layer of sweetness to the French-style toast, while the butter adds a bit more crunch.

Ingredients: 3 tablespoons butter, softened to room temperature 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, finely chopped (or use a good quality goat cheese) 2 cups shredded American cheese, grated 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice 1 teaspoon fresh thyme 1 teaspoon sea salt 1 teaspoon ground black pepper 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary 2 cups fresh figs, peeled and chopped (about 1 cup) 2 large eggs, lightly beaten 1/4 cup fresh apple cider vinegar 1/3 cup white wine vinegar 2 teaspoons kosher salt Directions: Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Grease two 9-inch baking pans with vegetable oil.

Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

Add the cheese, thyme, salt, and pepper.

Stir to combine.

Cook, stirring often, until the cheese is melted and the onions are soft, about 10 minutes.

Add figs and cook, stirring, for another minute.

Add egg, vinegar, and lemon juice.

Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium low, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until mixture is thickened, about 20 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice, cider vinegar, remaining 1/8 teaspoon salt, rosemary, and freshly ground pepper.

Serve warm.

Notes: Bogle doesn’t include a recipe for the vegetarian French Toast, but she says it tastes good and can be made ahead of time.

She also suggests adding more milk to the vegan French Toast.
